John Redstone To Lead Cheverny’s Mining Practice

Cheverny Capital is delighted to announce that John Redstone will join the firm as a Venture Partner and head of the firm’s new mining and base metals initiative. Mr Redstone also serves as CEO of Barlow Mining Inc., a company controlling a large and high-purity iron ore body located near significant transportation infrastructure in Northern Quebec.

Cheverny’s mining practice will initially focus on both M&A as well as on capitalising on the current turbulence in the sector by bringing family office, private equity and other non-traditional sources of capital to the mining industry.

Mr Redstone brings over 20 years experience in metals & mining finance, having held senior positions in equity research in the base metals sector at the predecessor firm to Bank of America Merrill Lynch Canada, TD Securities Inc. and Desjardins Securities.  Mr Redstone was regularly ranked as a leading analyst in his sector and both he and the Base Metals team he led were named as “Top Guns” in the Brendan Woods International survey of domestic and international institutional investors.

Mr Redstone began his career at leading global mining firms, where he held positions in both engineering and marketing. Mr Redstone hold a BSc. (Eng.) from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College (London), and M. Eng. in Mineral Processing from McGill University and an MBA from Concordia University.
